Ajax – Feyenoord
Ajax hosts the champion Feyenoord in one of the big derbies of Dutch football. The match is going to be played at the Amsterdam Arena on Sunday afternoon.
Right now Ajax are second in the Eredivisie standings, trailing on 5 points behind the leader PSV. Ajax’s record so far is 13 wins, 2 draws and 3 losses. In their last five games Ajax have won four times in a row, after their draw against Twente. They have managed to reduce their gap on the leader PSV, so right again Ajax are hoping to win the title this season.
In their last game Ajax enjoyed a 3-1 win over Willem II at Amsterdam. Fran Sol scored for the away team, but Justin Kluivert, Kasper Dolberg and David Neres made Ajax victorious in this game.
The champion Feyenoord is not enjoying the same successful campaign as their last, when they have won the title. Feyenoord are currently 5th in the Eredivisie standings with 32 points won so far. Feyenoord’s record is 9 wins, 5 draws and 3 defeats.
But despite of overally underperforming this season, Feyenoord are in a good shape now. They have won four of their last five matches in the league, losing points only during the draw with Heerenveen at home.
In their last match Feyenoord enjoyed a thrilling 5-1 win over Roda at home. Nicolai Jorgensen and Steven Berghuis scored two times each in this game, while Jens Toornstra added one more for the champions.
Now this derby looks even more interesting than usual, because both teams are unbeaten in their last five games. And they have won the majority of them. Ajax and Feyenoord are both in good shape and we shall expect a derby between two teams in a very good shape. Let’s hope that we are about to see a good football between these two.
